Pink sparkly cupcakes to be precise.

The happiest, pinkest, disco-ball-esque cake creations imaginable.

A colleague brought these into the office yesterday, for her birthday. There were huge! I couldn’t even finish mine before the sugar coma kicked in, but they were delicious.

I’m more of a savoury person, I think. I could eat cheese pretty much indefinitely, but I have a definite sugar limit.

My manager, however, ate three of these sweet sugary monsters in quick succession. Impressive stuff!

Sweet or savoury?

Tupperware lunch

Yes, it’s coming true – remember this prediction?

In all honesty this tupperware lunch was actually quite nice – brown rice, roasted broccoli and cauliflower, chickpeas, and chicken breast. All doused liberally in teriyaki sauce and topped with a scoop of hummus. Yes, those flavours do go together. Don’t judge me.

(Tasted better than it looked…)

Green goddess

I love green smoothies.

There’s a place near my office that makes sweet, satiating green goodness out of an unprepossessing concoction of spinach, various fruits and veg, and something that claims to be powered algae. Yet it tastes like a healthy, cleansing, delicious treat. You can actually feel the goodness working with each sip.

Lunch is good with a bit more green involved.

Favourite lunchtime go-to snack?

Alone time

I love it when my husband is away for work.

I love my own space.

I love chatting to him on the phone, sharing our different experiences of the day.

I love the silence.

I love watching ‘comfort telly’ – the kind of programmes or films you’ve watched a million times and can recite word for word, but which are a soothing, comforting background to the evening’s relaxation.

This is what I’ve been up to during my most recent alone evenings.

Granny stripe ripple by Lucy of Attic24 – I have already designated the spare room in our new house as my office/den/parlour, and the sofa is going to to be adorned with around two square metres of colourful crocheted blankety goodness.

This is a bit of a departure for me as I’m not usually a colours person – but I adore the way this is working up. As a novice crocheter it’s truly bizarre trying to unlearn my years of knitting – I love trying something new.

What do you do with alone time?

My lunchtime routine

I’ve never been one of those people who can eat lunch at my desk.

I’m fortunate enough to work in a lovely place, so not to take advantage of the lunchtime leg-stretching opportunities would be a crime.

My lunch break is also a great time to notice details. I enjoy details. Taking photos of them, even more so.

Spring is definitely on the way

Lunch today consisted of a glorious bowl of pho from the Vietnamese place near my office, drenched in soy sauce and garnished with greens. Glorious.

This was a bit of a last hurrah for me because I’m now a) trying to stick to a budget this month and b) use up the contents of my freezer before moving house. This combination, I foresee, will equal a lot of tupperware-based meals.
